H&M宣布2015年设计大奖赛入围选手名单
The Swedish retailer H&M has announced the names of the finalists for its young designers’ support initiative H&M Design Award 2015, slated to take place on January 27, 2015.
The chosen eight promising next-generation talents from some of the world’s leading design institutions will present their collections and the inspiration behind the collections to a jury of international fashion leaders.
Commenting on the new finalists, Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s head of design for New Development, states, “As a design-driven company, it is an honour for H&M to be able to support fashion’s future talents. The level of creativity, passion and technical skills we’ve seen for this year’s H&M Design Award is exceptional.”
The finalists include the Polish-born, Geneva University of Art and Design grad Magdalena Brozda who will showcase a line based on positive and celebratory ideas of death and the Swedish School of Textiles graduate Andreas Eklofs (who will feature his taping incorporated outdoorwear).
London’s Central Saint Martins’ alumnus Graham Fan will feature hand-woven complex textile crafted pieces in minimalist silhouettes. New York’s Parsons’ student Andrea Jiapeili will show the antithesis of her aesthetics through her pieces.
UK’s Royal College of Art’s James Kelly will display a line inspired from the photographic imagery of garments caught in movement and the Swedish designer Leonard Kocic will feature a line inspired from his mother.
The other finalists include Hong Kong’s Ximon Lee (collection inspired from the documentary film Children of Leningradsky) and Ireland’s Fiona O’Neill (line drew inspiration from women painting pictures of other women).
The winner of the contest will not only receive mentoring but also the opportunity to develop pieces from the winning collection to be sold at selected H&M stores later.
