The Bangladesh can consume 2 million tons of cotton every year
According to the international cotton advisory committee (ICAC) released forecast in December that the cotton consumption will exceed 1 million tons in Bangladesh this year, rose 10% compared with the previous year, due to the increased demand of the domestic demand and the domestic policies were advantageous to the textile production. Vietnam as the main rival of Bangladesh's garment exports, which the cotton consumption will reach 1.1 million tons, up 20% compared with the previous year.
According to the statistics from the Export Promotion Bureau of Bangladesh, Bangladesh’s garment exports reached $10.047 billion in the first five months of this year, up 16.13% compared with the previous year.
Textile mills in Bangladesh said that the rising consumption was not surprising along with the domestic clothing export increase. Bangladesh's capacity was very big which need more enough electricity and gas supply, so that the factory can full load operation all the time. It is understood that the Bangladesh can consume 2 million tons of cotton every year, but the operation rate can't achieve 100% owing to the lack of gas and electricity.
