TEVTA signs MoU with AMA for garment sector courses

Pakistan's Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with leading garment manufacturer and exporter Ali Murtaza Associates (AMA) to offer short-duration stipend-based vocational courses related to garment making.
The MoU was signed on Monday by Chairperson TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Sheikh and Chief Operating Officer Ali Murtaza Associate Ali Shahid Khan. While TEVTA will arrange theory sessions in its Institutes, practical training will be taken care of by Ali Murtaza Associate. TEVTA and AMA would jointly design the curriculum of these courses.
According to the MoU, more than 500 youth will be trained in 3-month long-job oriented courses including textile dyeing and finishing, CAD, pattern making and cutting, washing and drying (wet and dry) and one year textile engineering courses at TEVTA Institute in Punjab province.
AMA would provide Rs 7000 per month to the trainees during their practical training and on completion of courses, it will provide job opportunities to the trainee employees at salaries ranging from Rs 15,000 to 20,000 depending on their excellence, Pakistani newspapers quoted AMA Chief Operating Officer Ali Shahid Khan as saying.
