Bangladesh to introduce pension for apparel workers of EOU's

The Bangladesh government is planning to introduce pension facilities for apparel workers of all export oriented units to ensure their retired life is smooth and hassle free.

This was revealed by state minister for labour and employment Mujibul Haque Chunnu while speaking to journalists and added by saying that all workers will come under the facilities gradually.

He further said that the government has taken several steps in the direction which also includes creating a special welfare fund for the garment workers, to which, around Taka 89 lakh has already been deposited.

Chunnu also added that the funds available in the government's labour welfare fund now totals to Taka 171 crore, of which around Taka two crore has already been given to various workers as assistance.
