Jute fair promotes handloom industries in Bangladesh
CARE Bangladesh, a humanitarian association, organised Jute Product Fair- 2016 to promote jute-based handloom industries in the country. Speakers at the fair were of the opinion that it is imperative to provide training and inspire small-scale entrepreneurs in order to encourage the industry for enhancing production of diversified jute products.
About twenty-four manufacturing enterprises from all over Bangladesh displayed their eco-friendly products at the fair. The three-day fair organised under the SWITCH-Asia Jute Value Project 'Jute Diversified Products' received financial cooperation from the European Union, according to a Bangladeshi news agency.
The project's activities in reviving past glory of the eco-friendly jute fibre were lauded by the speakers at the fair. It helps promote jute-based handloom industries for increasing diversified use, meet demand and export jute products to international markets.
Flourishing local small and medium scale enterprises and jute-based cottage industries should enhance production of diversified jute products and promote marketing facilities to accelerate national development, said Sadar Upazila cooperative officer Farid Uddin Sarker.
